A shotgun XM8, huh? Funny thing is, that might actually work quite well. It looks mechanically...well, doable. And I love it.

Just some constructive criticism. I would recommend adding sights for any kind of firearm even for guns that seem like they would not need them. I understand that there are some intentions for aesthetics, but somehow in my opinion things look more confident and feel formidable when they have a way to aim even for a shotgun. The XM8 also included optional flip up sights during testing.

It's still a great piece, I'm just saying there is nowadays that robust feeling from having a legit way to aim.

I don't mind critisism but in this case I need to tell you that it was not needed. The sights are included in the handle/carrier bar.
You can see them clearly by the yellow lithium spots.

Oh, ok looking back at the explanations from the previous comments I can see where the sights were intended to be. Although it does seem to look like they would make seeing your surroundings more difficult.

Why not? There are AK and AR-15 shotguns which exist in our real world.

hey,

did you purchase this gun model and customize it or was it done completely from scratch?

Either way that is awesome.

If there was ever going to be Crysis4 or some sequel...youre the concept man i recommend.

the looks of the detail is simply amazing and the idea of the shotgun being the grip is fabulous...although the magazine looks too bent and that gentle bump on the stock's cheek rest could be uncomfortable.

Well im no weapons expert...but from what i know i can say this is a very combat effective looking weapon.

Question!! Does this thing fire both rounds from the same barrel???

Thank you so much for the kind words. It means a lot that all those hours I spend working with those designs are appreciated.

Yet, I must disappoint you. This gun have only one barrel, it's just a semi-automatic shotgun that also have a pump-action function.

A shotgun with the G36/XM8 gas piston system. Amirite? :v
BTW, it's an awesome design, although I suggest to add some Picatinny rails on it. It's the standard attachment for modern and maybe future warfare.

the shape of the gun looks like a XM8 rifle with a bulky front end from the overall shape!

nice concept for a box fed shotgun though!

Ah, a western-style take on the detachable mag-fed shotgun concept, demonstrating that the controls and ergonomics of modern carbines are applicable across a wide range of platforms. Good stuff.

This appears to be functional, lacking too much superfluous cowlings or material and it looks pretty good, for an XM8.
My only problem with this is that it doesn't have any obvious sights.

The sights are located inside the handle bar, not seen easily in profile view.
The yellow dots give 'em away.

Awesome looking design!

On the technical side... if it is semi-auto, why have pump action?

Thanks so much.

Mostly it's a security backup. It's not something I came up with. Look at SPAS-12.
I guess that if it's not a combat situation, then pump action is less prone to
jams and such.

A very nice design that is indeed very similar to the XM8 but, as a futuristic weapon, the focus is usually more on automation and such. The fact that this gun is pump action throws me off a little as that would impede a soldier's ability to fire as oppose to using a semi-automatic model.

:iconblackdonner:

But it's hybrid, that can fire both in pump action and in semi automatic mode.
I thought it was clear in the description.
