PM-380 90d Spiralus by BlackDonner PM-380 90d Spiralus by BlackDonner
Then there was time for yet another handgun. Those of you who'd seen the latest tutorial recognize the design.
Render is a magnetic accelerated projectile technology, where the grooves inside the barrel function as a conductor for the magnetic drive.
Other than that it's a pretty straight forward handgun equipped with a laser sighting, a Fast Action Mode, muzzle break and a flip-up ammo counter.

Made in CS5 with mouse.

magnetic? is it a gauss gun or railgun? has to be one or both if it's magnetic

In my RPG's I've made a distinction between rail- and render technology. Rail, is a tech that uses
magnetic coils to propell the projectile through an extremely strong current. That makes these weapons
brutally lethal, but heavy and in need of lots of energy. Render uses passive magnetic force and some
propellant for the initial speed. The coils in the barrell react with the grooves on the projectile and thus
increase both it's spin and velocity. Renders are much lighter and cheaper, but they don't deliver the
massive punch as the railguns do.

nice but irl a little backwards

a railgun uses initial magnetic propulsion while guass uses the length of the barrel to apply magnetism.

or at least that's my understanding :/

though I don't think that would actually matter in your RPGs but that's rather cool

I guess I missed the tutorial, when do you do those? Or where?

I dig the shroud, always a fan of barrel shrouds, not sure why...

I also like the subtle ergos and lighting to match, you always meet my expectations with your superb textures (brush pack?)

Cheers!

No, man, I meant the sketch step-by-step I'd posted couple days before.
The textures are two-fold. First I use a bunch of textures with different opacities and styles to make a background texture. Something not to dark nor light.
I keep adding textures until I'm happy with the result. Usually 10-12 layers.
When I give the parts their final texture, I'll use patterns or specific texture-fotos.

That sounds very in depth, will you ever show us your work flow? (/tutorial and or let us DL a Photoshop file and play in your sandbox [too far?])

Either way, very interesting...Im curious to see these things. :eager:

Man, if all guns had ammo counters, that would make checking ammo in your gun easier.
But for revolvers, think of it's slot of the cylinder: green for bullet, yellow for used bullet, red for no bullet.
